Thought this was worthy of a little mention. An interesting user submitted column has popped up here at UKT, it's entitled 'Total Immersion', submitted by Gonnas. He discusses how games manage to immerse players in their storyline, or not, as the case may be:"I came up with the conclusion that the way to make a game more real or more immersing is to make the player feel exactly what the character would. Present the player with the harsh reality that they are about to kill something. But how do you do this? How do you make someone feel that killing a fake person in a computer game is wrong, well one way would be to create more life-like characters each with their own personality and appearance."
He goes on to talk about ways in which you could take user interaction/immersion to a higher level. It's a well written column and he comes up with some interesting discussion points, take a look and have your say.
