Another little review of the 1.4 beta test has popped up over on CSCenter, by TheNinthPlayer. Here's what he had to say:

"Several new features can be found in the current beta of CS 1.4. One of the biggest and most talked about features of this new update is the anti-hack HL update which promises to cut down on cheaters however while beta testing I haven’t noticed anything concerning hacks, but then again I haven’t seen any cheaters. Another new features which will delight some and may anyone others is a new camera action. When a player is killed the camera shifts forms first person to third and you literally watch yourself die. Some of the other new abilities, which can be found in spectator mode, allow you to view players from a first person mode or watch the entire teams status through an overview of the map.

Valve has also made an attempt to create more realism in the game by decreasing the speed at which up jump plus when you land your screen will rock from side to side. Yet another interesting change to note is the more precise hit boxes witch allow for more accurate game play. Last but not least is a change that I personally am not too happy about is the fact that all the guns have been changed from real names to fictional names, whether this was valves incentives or the CS teams decision I simply do not know. On a final note I would just like to say this next version will defiantly be a step forward for Counter-Strike."

Sounds like some nice changes have been made, and if the gun names are like that in the official release, I'm sure we'll all be able to download a patch to return them to their former glory. Spectator mode also sounds much better.
