I recieved the following press release from Fusion, a clan climbing the UK ranks for some time now & set to make their first lan appearance at Primary Strike 2002.From mid-January, 2002, Fusion have split into Fusion.uk and Fusion.eu. Both divisions will continue in various online competitions, although bad experiences with clanbase means Fusion are unsure about considering that as a choice again.Fusion.uk will be working towards lan play, representing the more serious aspect of cs. While Fusion.eu will be for the online and "fun" aspect of the game. Players from both divisions are likely to be registered as both squads so that they can be interchangeable, so the change is primarily cosmetic.
The purpose of the split is to keep the talent that already exists in the clan, but to expand to allow the clan to achieve more. Expect to see a competitive Fusion team at future lan competitions. The eu division have already been at work recruiting the numbers upto the 7, while UK currently require 2 more members. We are also seeking further sponsorship to provide us with finances for expenses for attending lans and also for servers.
More information can be found at www.fusionclan.net or #fusionclan on quakenet.
Seems like a wise move, we'll have to see how this one turns out though.

They are far from pretty s***, and they themselves are gearing up to compete in LAN tournaments. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

From what I understand all the news for this site is stored in a database and when we update news into the website each is catagorised into different sections such as clan news, competition news, CS general news etc etc. I believe our lead coder and site director, Alpha, is currently working on a utility so that we can take advantage of these news filters.
Don't think anything will happen soon and I could be wrong, but I'd expect it's something that has gone under consideration and will just take time, as expected.
As for Fusion, gl in your venture hope it works out for the best of you.
Also I read a comment earlier, that was somewhere along the lines of, "In the NiP interview every clan in sweden praised them. Over here we just insult every clans' decision to change to suit their needs." Maybe you should think before you speak and encourage people in your community to succeed. As for the sponsorship aspect, I don't see why all clans shouldn't be able to get sponsors, Division 5 Football clans have sponsors, I mean, even your local football club that play once a month has sponsors, so why shouldn't every CS clan dedicated to what they're doing be able to have sponsors?
It would:
1) Decrease the amount of "splits" in clans.
2) Create a more solid base for the CS Community in general.
3) And more than likely, promote the LAN scene widely.
As an ex-Leader of Fusion, I don't see any reason why they shouldn't attend LAN's, or indeed carry on with online leagues, I understand what they mean with ClanBase, and I only left Fusion because of something that happened in ClanBase..
I wish Fusion luck in their new ventures, and if they're looking for PCW's, dont hesitate to come and ask.
