There has been an interview posted up at HomeLan with the creator or Cheating Death, a new type of anti-cheat system. Cheating Death works in a different way from past anti-cheat programs in that instead of looking for specific cheats on the users system, which is not failsafe, it modifies information from the game engine so that for example aimbots will aim in the wrong place. Because of this, Cheating Death should disable all cheats (or at least make them so ineffective that there is no point in using them), and there will not be any updates of long lists of cheats to combat.HomeLAN - Sadly, it seems malicious coders inevitably find a way to disable or work around anti-cheat measures. How long and to what degree do you imagine Cheating Death will endure before you might have to release a new version?CDeath - That's a difficult question. There are such a variety of skill levels out there. Most people who use cheats and claim to be "hackers" can't even write code. Then there is a much smaller set of people who get source code and ideas from other people, put it together, and make a cheat. My guess is that these people will have a difficult time hacking C-D. They are accustomed to detection-based anti-cheats that can be defeated by renaming cvars and dlls, and changing how their cheat looks. C-D is not based on detection, so their current "hacking" techniques will not work.
There are a few very talented people who could hack any anti-cheat with a client side. The good news is that they tend not to make cheats and release them to the public. They are more interested in learning how things work than in spoiling other people's fun.
