"The scoring system in Counter-Strike is based around giving the victory to the last man (or team) standing, regardless of the time. There is an excellent reason why there aren't any professional sports that use this method of scoring: the attention span of the average viewer is not going to hold out..."Give it a read, it's very short but is worth it. I can see his point and I think he is probably Q3 biased, but on the flipside...many don't enjoy watching Q3. I for one would prefer something with a bit more tactics involved than Q3, maybe in future we'll be playing a game with a balance of both. (Thanks XSReality)
Antmoo - How important do you think the presence of teamwork is in Counter-Strike matches?TheGenius - Well it's essential, I think everyone knows that there are xxx players around who are capable of playing high-level CS, however only 1% of these players ever get to go to a CPL, or play in the Eurocup, etc. for the basic reason that the only way they know how to play CS is to frag. Discipline, commitment and awareness are the traits we look for most in any players, and its how this clan and most big clans, were built.

When i whatch cs games, i'll enjoy them only if it's the very top teams, cause there's something for me to learn, and i find myself trying to study tactics, rather than looking at the action.
The thing is, there isn't just 1 sport in the world is there? There's not gonna be 1 sport than takes gaming to a pro level, it'll be several games, whether it be CS, Q£, or 1 of the next generation games. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

Q3 isn't boring by any means, but imo neither is CS....maybe that's just me, but watching CS is of greater interest to me. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

he goes CS Is boring to watch cos its going round corners and all looking at blank corridors? err yeh lets think about a q3 duel. u have the cheif that whacked the guy out last round running around thinking where the other matey respawned by the power ups he has picked up, then he finds him/bumps into him and they have a fight that lasts 1-8 seconds, then the guy either manages to escape through a teleport or die or run off. only for both players to run around looking for power ups again, round and round we go.
in the same way CS Is simiolar cos both teams try to whack each other out, maybe planting the bomb. then it starts again, cts get into position and the t's choose which route to go. the reason its more intereesting is cos the fights are either really short, or drawn out. and theres different situations, as in 2 guys vs 1, or everyone caining it down the corridor head on into a group of about 2/3 people. think the bottom of de_prodigy. there is alot more action becuase there is 5 times the players within the map, and therefore i reckon more interesting.
but im only saying its more interesting cos i was a CS player. if i was a q3 id be advocating the playing of that, i dont see why the CPL cant just play both games to shut the 24 year old greasy haired quakers up. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]
