Tal (CB Staff) has posted some news regarding the recent downtime that Clanbase experienced. Incase you hadn't noticed, they had been down all weekend and were clearly working to get the problem sorted and the site back online. It appears the problems were down to hackers (initially), combined with a bit of misfortune (bad backup of database) and, in the end, good luck (hackers had a copy of database). Here's what Tal had to say:"Last week one of the ClanBase servers was hacked by intruders who gained access to our database. When I found out about this Thursday evening I quickly copied the database to a safe place and completely reinstalled the server Friday morning. To my total horror I then discovered the database copy I had was incomplete, very incomplete...You can find the full story as well as some quick questions answered, over in the site.I honestly thought at that time that ClanBase was dead and gone...
Back home again I was told that I could reach the hackers on some hotmail account. I mailed them to explain our desperate situation and suggested they send us a copy of the database. Without any hesitation or condition they agreed to do this. Most of the downtime was simply spent waiting for the (huge) file to be transferred."
