Money from gaming?

Thorin (Cyber News) has written a new article taking a look at what needs to do be done to make pro-gaming possible and where the necessary income could come from:

"In the real world games are for children, until recently (notabely with the release of the playstation) playing games above the age of about 14 would have your peers looking down their noses at you and jeering. If you saw an 18 year-old playing with a rattle you might consider him to be infantile. The same carries through to the real world, they see these games as children's games and as such they can't see any reason why someone should essentially be paid for playing these games or even worse, paid for writing about people playing games. When you view CPL tournaments with "real world eyes" you see grown men and teenagers playing a game and being given money for being good at it. Now until recently this hasn't been a problem, we, the community, has big enough to carry gaming thus far. However, be prepared for some bumps in the road of pro-gaming's plans. Our time of not needing "real people" has ended, most abruptly."

It's a long but very interesting article.
