Challenge-CS caught up with MAFIA-eccentric on irc and asked him to explain the hows and whys of MAFIA (6th in the CPL Berlin Cup) contracting their players:[CH-CS]: I read your interview over at gamingeye.com and it was good, though it's in Swedish and this is something the whole community has to hear I belive. Do you think you could tell us a little about your job as MAFIA's manager and the signing of the contracts? This could very well be the first real step towards real pro-gaming.MAFIA-eccentric: Since I joined MAFIA we have started to look at how we can make our team and the whole CS scene more serious. I have started some companies since I was 19, I’m 26 now and I have a feeling that a team like MAFIA also needs to be run like a company. This is the case in many other professional "sports" and there’s really no difference in CS
I found it very annoying when I started to look into the CS community about the team members that were splitting off all the time. This was one of the reasons we wanted contracts.
It's the start of a growing trend, so read the full interview here.
