Interview with Anderschm

So for those who dont know you, a quick intro if you would.
(AndersSchm) I'm a CS regular from Birmingham of 1 years of age, going by the first name Richard. I was clan leader of [bsq] for about 15 months and have since left that and have taken charge as head admin of Barrysworld Counterstrike League.
Following on from last season, what do you feel is the most fundamental change to this seasons BWCSL?
(AndersSchm) I think this season BWCSL is recovering from the dual shock of pay to play and the handover from Rogue1, it is a healthier league with more and better clans in it. Things are settled down which leaves us confident of an excellent season without the teething troubles experienced by some in season 6.
The map list has caused a few rumblings, noteable inclusions of mill for another season, how do you feel these maps affect teamplay differently to other previously used maps?
(AndersSchm) Personally I believe that using a selection of unpopular or more obscure maps requires a higher level of teamplay and clan organisation in order to win games on them. Unlike dust where everyone knows how to play it - maps like mill or fire require a clan to work together and learn how to play something different.
The rumour mill is working overtime recently, some say theres a special BWCSL map to be included next season. Is this true? If so , would the map be released for general use in other leagues?
(AndersSchm) There is a BWCSL map in production. It is being produced by Junks who is known among the community for both his map making and playing for Snipers Alley. Junks has presented the map to us and some pcw's are organised between BWCSL clans using the new map. However it will not be included for season 7 - it would require much better exposure and time for people to learn it before that could happen.I believe the map should be released to the CS community once it is complete, though this is ultimately up to the map creator. It is a possible inclusion for season 8, but feedback from BWCSL clans will be sought first.
There are some interesting inclusions to Division 1 this season, perhaps barcodes being the most noticeable. Do u feel BWCSL is starting to reach out to upper tier clans now its in its second p2p season?
(AndersSchm) There was a lot of uncertainty following pay to play which caused a lot of people to leave - as most people will know BWCSL had a very strong selection of clans before pay to play. I think that combined factors of the relative success of season 6, people getting to see the standard of our prizes and coverage on UKTerrorist have stirred up a lot of interest in BWCSL again. Not just in the higher standard of CS but from clans of all levels of the CS community.
What major rule changes, if any, are present this season, and what were the driving influences behind them?
(AndersSchm) There has been no major changes as the rules were already pretty good from previous seasons. Changes on the rules pages are mainly to document the rules regarding the skybox and playoffs that we were adhering to last season anyway. The main thing that people will notice next season is that from week of the competition there will be automatic kicking of non-registered WON IDs now that we have got the match bot working correctly
Since going p2p, BWCSL has been able to offer clans a vast array of prizes and features.Do you see other leagues conforming to this standard in an effort to pull more clans in with prizes?
(AndersSchm) I think most leagues have considered or discussed it. I think there will always be clans who don't want to pay to play in a league and I don't think non-paying leagues will go away - but if quality pay to play leagues exist with good prizes they will attract the majority of clans and become the centre of UK CS. I don't think that sponsorship or charity driven leagues can provide the same level of service as a pay to play league - and as people get used to pay to play they will demand the higher standard of league that pay to play offers.
How do you feel coming up to this season? With the list of attending clans growing, do you feel this could be BWCSL's best season on record?
(AndersSchm) We are aiming at having 9 clans in BWCSL this season which is the same as season 5 before the introduction of pay to play. With all the benefits of pay to play added it should be an excellent season, hopefully the best on record though Season 5 will be a hard one to beat from my own personal memories of it. Whether the best or not - it will be a good season for all clans involved and should quell the voices that still claim that pay to play will kill BWCSL. I myself was very sceptical at first as many people will remember - but I think that the league is once again regaining its top place among UK CS leagues.
Well that about brings us to the end, thanks for your time and best of luck with BWCSL this season
(AndersSchm) Thankyou for your time as well :)

map looks interesting, sort of "mill/fire esque" as it were.

If it's being distributed i'd be interested in testing it. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

I've messed about on the map and I think it has some good potential but the bombsites are a little close, the map seems a little bland and the crate textures are weird to say the least.

Loads of nifty boosts I noticed as well.

Btw anders rocks :-] [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

lets face it, maps are by no means easy to make, so for junks to produce something which is going to be as respected (or so?) as more known, official maps, is going to be pretty damn hard. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

If they manage to keep the map more towards a mill standard rather than the too large and kinda dopey fire standard, then it'll be well received [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

Couple of things:

1 - The map is plain as its an early beta. Theres no point adding fine detail when you know you will have to make layout changes after playtesting. Although saying that, I won't be detailing too much, so it will probably be plainer than most official maps, just less plain than what you see now.

2 - They aint crates they are palletts :)

3 - I've fixed every boost with invisible brushes (unless I've missed any)

Note, again this is an early beta, im organising 5v5 pcw's as of now and expect to change the map accordingly until I consider it good enough. Gryffs point about bomb sites being too close is probably my main concern right now, I'm considering moving them farther apart.

Once its finished it will be released to the public well before any inclusion in BWCSL. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

nice iview.

As for the map, while it doesnt concern me as i actually have a decent pc, but bare in mind theres alot of people out there playin CS on sub 60 FPS, too much detail kills some folk, makin some maps a poor experence for them to play. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

The map is seriously good.

We're having the first pcw test tonight, so can't report on it's matchplay, but when Junks was testing beta1 we tested defence and attacking of sites, I think it will support very varied tactics as CT.

I can't really comment on the layout, but I think this map will go down VERY well with the community on release. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

^^ WHO HATES AZTEC??! MEEEEEEEE!

I like custom maps in competitions. In the gmc cup, the biggest danish online tournament ever, there were custom maps (vertigo, heat, fang etc) and a home map. The map list included many none standard cw maps, and was frowned on by alot of people. Personally I thought it was very interesting playing new maps, thinking up new tactics. It lead to alot of not so well known clans giving the better clan a run for thier money.

BWCSL is looking good, shame we dont actually have the money to enter :( [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]
