Uninspired Interview
Antmoo took some time to site down with Raider and Iceman from one of the UK's top clans at the moment, Uninspired. Ui are currently sitting top of the UK Clanbase ladder.
I'm joined by Raider and Iceman from Ui (Uninspired), so first off, can you tell us a bit about yourselves?
Raider^: I've been in the CS scene for about a year and a half now, first started just for fun, then joined a couple of amateur clans until i got into Snipers Alley, from there things went up...and I find myself in ui :)
ui|ICEMAN: I started playing CS at the very first beta with a few mates on LAN; stumpy and mcgregger, formed a clan with them called HoD. I later left and decided to form ui.
Cool, when I was arranging this interview, Raider said Ui were bust battling with 4K, one of their regular friendlies, how did the match go?
Raider^: I only played the last map, so I'll let ice fill you in :)
ui|ICEMAN: well we didn't have a team for the first map (nuke) so we had to use a friend of mine (uzi) to play that map, on nuke we're not so good so it was a good practice to see what needs to be done.
Well you're obviously getting in some good practice with the experts, how long do you think it is before you'll be battling away in a CPL World Championship?
Raider^: Very soon hopefully, we're practising hard for CPL Paris right now and we are going to a LanArena tournament in february! LAN tournaments are truly the way to go!
Well, with CPL WCs in the hopefully near future, you're sitting pretty at No.1 in the ClanBase UK league, how easy was it to get up to the No.1 spot?
ui|ICEMAN: Well, we joined CB too early really, we were too unprepared for LCA and LR but once we beat TRCC it got pretty easy :)
Raider^: In all honesty, the level of competition in Clanbase UK has declined, with the likes of 4k and noc no longer in it, so it has been fairly easy.
ui|ICEMAN: TRCC were the only real challenge in CB at the time.
Which clan(s) do you think are a threat to your position? I've seen Fusion steadily rising :)
* Raider^ quickly checks who is actually in clanbase :PRaider^: TRCC have recently merged with another clan, and have kept the core of their team and added some new great players, I think they could be contenders in a few weeks.
ui|ICEMAN: Well with CB as it is at the moment, I can't see any real challenge bar the new TRCC, who merged with infuse a few weeks ago i think.
So they will have some fresh blood in their team, any players you are keeping your scopes on?
Raider^: as my brother (Night) is in TRCC, I have had time to study the team in matches...Ex0r has looked a very useful player, and the entire TRCC core is very strong already.

So with CB, and other CPL things in your sights, what other competitions do you have in mind?
Raider^: There is a LanArena tournament, sometime in february which we are busy practising for already.
ui|ICEMAN: We're trying to get ourselves into the CB eurocup and we've got the Primary Strike tourney soon.
Raider^: also I10, mainly for a top laugh tho :)
ui|ICEMAN: Maybe we'll get to go to i series this time :)
Sounds good, and speaking of practice, how often do Ui practice together, and individually?
ui|ICEMAN: we try to play 2 or 3 games a day, and most of us play CS the rest of the time individually.
Raider^: I play about 1 hour of public cs every day, bar friday and saturday, and aim to play games 2 or 3 times a night.
So what do you think of the public servers you play in then?
ui|ICEMAN: I'm not a fan of them, too many people willing to vote good players off.
Raider^: I tend to play on Blueyonder, but due to the recent anti-cheat trouble and a few rogue admins, I play more on 4K server, or DNC/UKLA.
ui|ICEMAN: The anti-cheat progs need work, especially on BY.
A lot of imaturity too in some servers, what are your views on that?
ui|ICEMAN: The imaturity is a problem that I doubt will be solved unless community servers are made.
Raider^: Yes, the imaturity is indeed a problem, I read your article on that yesterday and agree, especially if they are admins, but u always have the ppl spouting "CHEAT" at every good shot.
You have good taste in articles :), Raider, you mentioned Rogue Admins, what are your views on them, and how can we stamp them out do you think?
Raider^: When a GSP invites someone to be an admin, I think regular check ups should be made that they actually do their job properly. In my opinion rogue admins can kill servers very very quickly. As most people know, I use AWP mostly, go on a server, kill 6 people with awp in one round, all of a sudden, I cheat and am banned...
yeah, definately a problem, well there's a lot of talk about CS2 at the moment, what do you think will be better CS2, or TFC 2?
Raider^: I myself have never played TFC all that much, but I believe both will be top quality games if the right amount of work is put into the development, and it is important they are not rushed.
ui|ICEMAN: CS2, I believe even though the CS following is dying there's still a massive community that will carry on to the next version.
Raider^: But I think I will definitely stay with CS.
ui|ICEMAN: I was personally never a fan of TFC and I find CS far more appealing.
Good good, so what do you want to see in CS 2?
ui|ICEMAN: Well just like every other honest player, an end to cheats.
Raider^: Improved graphics mainly, a few added options like the grenade system changed, and of course an end to cheats, but I wouldnt like them to tweak the gameplay too much.
ui|ICEMAN: Funadmentally CS is good but just the various flaws in the HL engine hold it back.
Speaking of cheating, there's a lot of talk about new anti-cheat programs, what are your views on cheating, and are people doing enough?
ui|ICEMAN: well there's certainly been a flurry of anti cheat programmes recently but I'm not really sure if they're banning the right ppl.
Raider^: I dislike cheats of any form, even if people are only using them to check demos of other players, I don't think even that should be done.
Hmm, I don't know if you saw that list of cheaters posted, but some interesting names, including your own LandShark? was that just an imposter?
Raider^: No, that was due to a fault in the anti-cheat program, the author of the program confirmed there was a bug. Several other top players were also 'caught' with it but all have been cleared, but it is dissapointing for this kind of thing to happen, as these players will now have a black cloud over their heads.
So what kinds of "punishment" do you think caught players should get if they are proven to cheat?
ui|ICEMAN: If it can be proved beyond any doubt then I personally think they should be banned for life from online play.
Raider^: I agree with ice
Raider^: Hmm, maybe not for life
If they can cheat once, they can cheat again...
Raider^: Yes, but I think people should be given a second chance. But even if they did come back, they would have everyone on their back and would become kinda outcast...so doesn't matter :)

Shame really cos when I watch England I don't think ffs fail if it contains no Liverpool players (hardly ever like).
4K shown their class, and noc. trying to take the game 1 step further into semi professionalism.
The rest seem to be just trying to climb over each other at any chance, cheat? Merc? Lame? anything they can get away with...
We should be doing what these do and be playing decent Euro clans not each other trying to get 1 over on each other..until we do that 4k and noc are gonna pull away and the rest of us going gonna keep fighting over scraps going nowhere. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]
