Interview with Par and FunkyC.
Hi, to start off with can you please give an introduction as to who you both are and your previous clans.
Par: Hi! I'm Patrick 'Par' Lucy, I've been exclusively in Irish clans - like BSE, CLAN NETHOUSE, Ketamine (jEt), F2B, JELLYSH0TS and the first incarnation of suiGeneris.
Funk: Hi my name's bern eh been playing CS since just before it went retail, played for such clans as SoE and rD^ and 99c.
You just won your opening game in the UK/IE Community Cup, how do you feel the game went?
Par: Pretty badly to be honest, we did enough to win it pretty comfortably but the server was giving some odd lag spikes and as Bern says we were pretty rusty. Also I'm going for the record of how many times anyone can put the word 'pretty' in one sentence.
Funk: I thought our teamplay was a bit rusty and overall we underperformed but we still got a result so obviously we're happy enough.
Did you have a bad game or was it due to the fact you're still a fairly new clan and getting used to each other?
Par: A combination of both - we just did our first proper tactics session about an hour before the game so the implementation of some stuff wasn't as good as it could be.
How far can you see yourselves getting in this competition and who do you see as main competition?
Par: I haven't looked much further than our own group, where disturbed are obviously the team to beat. I reckon we can get at least second in the group if we keep it together!
Funk: Well with dist in our group they're obviously the ones we have to look out for at first, but I think win or lose against them we can get a respectable place in the cup overall.
You have a fairly strong line-up and it's quite even in comparison with clans such as disturbed, do you think after some serious practise you could be competiting with clans such as disturbed?
Par: I guess so, the main reason for clans going to pot is bad internal chemistry and I doubt we'll have a problem in that respect, also we're probably not as motivated as we could be at the moment but hopefully that'll change :)
Funk: This early I'm not too sure, we don't really have the time to tactically get too strong before our first tough game, but I suppose you never know on the day, anything can happen...
Do you regularly attend local LANs to gain some experience or are your main focuses on practise as much online and attend bigger LANs, possibly the next UKT LAN after of course #5?
Par: We don't LAN all that often, but there's normally a fun Irish LAN every so often that most of the members of sG would attend. We have the ability to LAN in Cork or Dublin pretty easily if needs be... as for competitions, we hope to get in shape and organised enough to be able to attend UKT6!
What other LANs will you be hoping to participate in the upcoming 2004?
Par: Not a clue, one step at a time :)
Funk: Anything going really...
Apart from yourselves and of course dNC, are there any other Irish teams capable of competing with some of Europes top teams?
Par: Nope, and at the moment we aren't either :).
Funk: With the recent spliiting up/inactivity of jEt I don't see any other real competitors at the moment, I would say we aren't 'quite' dNC class yet either though :)
Were you aware that KabaL was moving to Ireland for studies? And if you were would you of attemped to poach him?
Par: It became apparent a few weeks back when he started idling in #cs-ireland, and yeah it was pretty obvious he was gonna team up with dNC.
Funk: As soon as I heard he was moving to Ireland I assumed he was joining dNC so didnt even inquire :)
So you were aware of the fact dNC were reforming before it was announced?
Par: Eh, no! Honest :(
Funk: No comment. :P
