The following was an email I sent to the head Cyber Sports Gaming Network (UK-based) admin pertaining to the controversial rescheduling - much like that of at the beginning of this past CAL season. I know that there are many on this UK site that would like to see my column posting priveleges suspended, or for me not to run to giddy with my English Lit AS essays articulation and use the same language into UKT stuff. Haha, jokes over...if your still ribbing me for that, I think people used to say: get wit, or maybe even get a life.
I haven't bothered editing it, as it's pretty clear and down to earth, but I just figured it was something that needed to be said, hence I thought I'd make myself the 'clarion voice', if it were.
Hello Obsidian,
I don't you know 'of me'. I've played in a few tournaments here and there, and just really am an average player despite attempting to manage and admin here and there. The point of this email though isn't to 'get in good' with the leader of CSGN, nor is it to bash you with some opinionated immature slander. It's more about what you did, a paragraph, but I figured you hadn't heard much of this in the past week(s) - after I having just read a log between you and Loki from Choke.
To put it bluntly, you guys dropped the ball to an extent. From a player's view point, it seems unfair, unjust, and grossly partial. Though to a managers'/admins perspective, its far from that. It's akin to the rescheduling of the Team 3D vs CoL of CAL's most recent season in the US. They did it for different reasons, but the public opinions were split, from people who understood the decision, to those who were obdurate and unwaivering from seeing justification in anything the admins had to say. In all actuallity, it was a fine thing to do, the rescheduling. You'd just shoved the top UK team (4Kings aren't really 'uk' anymore) in your league as a replacement, and it could be said to be unrealistic to expect them to make start playing within a week, right off the bat. Where CSGN mucked up was with not finding out immediately if all 5 players could play their first game. Its beyond obvious that ATR were well aware of Kardy's lack of abillity in playing the match, and even if they weren't 100% sure, they still should have notified you and Choke. Furthermore as far as I know, the clause for the 'catch up week' design was never mentioned to the public or to Choke, so it just like you pulled a fast one without a second thought.
Choke have their own beef with Chris Ireland. That affects and skews this situation to an extent. Though the real problems came from CSGN's lack of informing the relative parties, as well as ATR doing the same. Rescheduling within a few days wouldn't have caused such an uproar, rescheduling within a few hours will do it for any sporting even, be it eSports or little league Rugby. We live and learn, but from having dealt with this so much by now (as I have seen countless times, eg the ridiculous 'wildcard' option of past seasons), I would have figured this wouldn't happen with the most sought after match of the first few weeks of the new season.
You can do what you want with this. I may post it somewhere - but I seriously doubt it. I tend to just post emails like this if I know that objectivity is there, and I haven't gotten in the apathetic mood as I was with past columns of a 'botched junction', to name one example. Hope this helps, and if it doesn't then I guess that's just another casualty of running your league effectively autocratically, if I am not much mistaken.

PS - you ought to change your CSGN profile photo, you look a weedy bit like what Choke would describe Cireland as...

Have clear in your mind what you want to say, and say it as simply as possible. If you have evidence to back it up, say that afterwards. If you're making several points, highlight them first, give evidence for each one and summarise them.
And PUT THE f***ING THESAURUS AWAY. Long words do nothing for you when you haven't proof read your letter, and grammatically it's as full of holes as the French national identity. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]
