A few small suggestions not aimed at anyone in particular for improving the overall look and more importantly feel of the game.
Add your own below and use the report bug feature in source to submit suggestions ( or get a column on gotfrag) as suggested on steamforums.
Remove noise when standing jumping, you make noise as you leave the ground which makes no sense.
Change the big white HUD display Text / Font to something a little more pleasing on the eye. Also the rest of the fonts look a little washed out and not well defined. For example of this look when
you kill someone in the top right. The blues and reds are quite dull and difficuly to pick out.
In CS 1.6 you can tell instantly what team has just got the kill because the colour is more vibrant and you can see it out of the corner of your eye. Maybe thats just me though.
Bring back old style menus
Change some sounds back to 1.6 style (colt / AWP). CS 1.6 sounds were one of the best things about the game, they got a massive overhaul in source but I think just tweaking them slightly would have done.
Remove scrolling on awp scope, make it instant zoom.
Add red dot at the centre of the awp crosshair
zoom_sensitivity_ratio default to 1.2 like in 1.6
Make a new headshot icon, the current one is TERRIBLE.
Improve player skins and models, the old ones moved fine, these ones just hover about and look totally unnatural. Especially when strafing
Make crosshair go back to normal at the same speed as 1.6 crosshair
it is slow and gives the overall impression of the game being sluggish.
More visible bullet hole decals on surfaces, this is needed so you can see where your aiming better, its a strange experience playing and not knowing exactly where the bullets are hitting, adds to the random factor.
Remove the delay from when you stand up from a crouched position, it seems unneccessary i can't imagine 1 person who'd prefer it like that.
Add spectator crosshair expand and contract when firing (not really important just cosmetic thing)
Moving out of spawn, not sure if this is a bug but if you buy something and like me hold down forward ready to move as soon as freezetime ends, you end up not moving when freezetime ends. This
might be because i hold down 'W' to move forwards and then buy guns with other hand and then expect player to move forward as soon as the freezetime ends.
Don't bother with comments like source is s*** etc. Its not fantastic at the moment but i'd say its blatantly not finished yet. Looks like it could turn into an impressive game after a few updates. I'd like to hear about what people who've got the game think of it.

The spray and strafe needs to be fixed as well. The spray creates the feel of CS and needs to be left as it was tbh. The strafe is far too quick as well, u can end up almost bunnyhopping from strafing correctly, though this does make for comedy knife fights [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

the rest seems about right but not really prioritys in my eyes.
id like to see the physics fixed when you interact with barrels/walls sticking to you first ... then adys point about the delys when changing guns

Strafe is too fast, movement seems too jagged. Apart from them 2 things, I quite like it.
With the game looking so good, headshot with loads of blood would probabably mean it has to go thru another bbfc certification and get a 15/18 certificate, so ya know I doubt it'll happen. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

no one had 100 fps when 1.0 came out and when beta 1 came out
the game needs to keep updating to keep up with newer games coming out and it isnt gonna cut it on the q2 engine so i dont suppost all these ppl saying im gonna carry on playing 1.6 ur not helping cs..,.
ull all learn to get use to it when 1.6 came out u all whined about that but was much better than 1.5

Sounds
================
The sounds in CS:S are awesome, bar the USP which is a bit clickly, the rest i think have been very well done.
Bar one. The movement sound....... it was easy enough to tell where an enemy was by the slightest footstep in 1.6 which was very handy for strategies etc, in CS:S the sounds very wishy washy and you cant REALLY tell where someone is based on footstep sound, you can only tell the vague area they are in, i was in a public server for example (and i have my sound up high) and i couldnt heat someone walking up behind me because it sounded like they were in front of me. This could just be my setup but i dont know.
Graphics
================
We all know the graphics in CS:S are impressive, everything from world textures to the player models, they are all very very good. I play in 800x600, with the settings recommended by CS:S, and it looks very good, in 1024 it was simply amazing, not as vibrant as FarCry, but then again this is CS.
Cant really complain about the game graphics.
Physics
================
Not much to say here really, the player physics are "OK" all be it more like DOD/BF than 1.6, the duck needs changing, theres no need for there to be a delay from when you stand up to when you can move, the duck also needs to duck faster, its a tad slow atm.
Player movement (when standing) is actualy fine, ive yet to see a problem with it except for said ducking. The movement speed is good enough, i dont think its changed actualy, it just seems different to 1.6 because of the differeing map sizes.
Recoil/sprites
=====================
In general, the weapons DO recoil about the same as 1.6, if you move closer to a wall and spray you can see they are pretty much similar, bar the AK which ive found is more accurate to spray now.
The only problem is you cant see bullet holes from a distance, this is a combination of 2 things, both which can be fixed easily (i guess).
1) The new bullet hole sprites are tiny black dots surrounded by silver, 1.6 bullet hole sprites are a big black smudge, much easier to see from a distance because their black and most textures in CS are shades of white/grey.
2) The smoke puff's when you shoot a wall in CS:S are like the smoke from a smoke grenade, you cant see through them, nor do they disperse quickly enough to be able to see your bullet holes.
This doesnt REALLY matter if you ask me though, as anyone that looks at bullet holes while they are shooting someone isnt going to be concentrating properly anyway, in CS:S if your crosshairs on someones head and you shoot you will hit them in the head (bar a few things, ill explain in a bit)
The headshot icon is fine, in all honesty the headshot icon could be anything, it could be a picture of a poodle and it wouldnt matter because at least you know that means you got a HS.
Weapons
================
Quick description of each (main ones)
USP : Sounds a bit plasticy, hits ok, not as prominent as in 1.6, headshots seem harder to acheive from distance.
DEagle : About the same as 1.6, no improvement on accuracy, headshots still random at distance and can have problems with reg at close range. No change from the 1.6 DE in my opinion.
Glock : Burst fire is more powerful if you ask me. Its a decent weapon in source, more so than 1.6 i feel.
MP5 : doesnt seem to hit at long range at all, spray pattern is too wide to accuratley get bullets to someones head, up close though its like in 1.6, pretty powerfull with alot of bullets finding the opponents face.
Colt : Same as 1.6, maybe slightly less wild recoil from what ive played. Can still hs someone across the map in 1-2 shots with no problem.
AK : Seems to have less recoil when spraying, long range bursting much the same as 1.6.
AUG/SIG : Differential reg from these 2, sometimes they hit no problem, other times it just misses, bit like 1.6 but i think the aug is less powerful.
AWM : no way near as fluid as 1.6, even if we have the old fast scope back, just doesnt seem to have the response of the 1.6 AWM, lack of fastswitch is pain in the arse too.
On a side note if anyones used the P90, it has little to no recoil now and is actualy quite powerful, could be a good gun for facing ECO's now..
Grenades
================
HE : Shorter fuse time, this is a good thing and a bad thing at the same time, good in the way that you can throw a HE at an enemy thats trying to shoot you and they have less time to get away, and also you can fly one thru the air without bouncing it off walls and it will explode quickly giving the opponent less time to react to it. Bad in the way that sometimes you want the HE go bounce off a wall and wait a bit before exploding, when trying to throw the HE up into a tight place for example.
The fact that HE'd dont hit you through walls anymore im undecieded on, yes it means you wont get killed by random HE's that someones thrown at a wall above you and you get mega splash damage through 4 walls, but at the same time this can lead to interesting and important frags, have to see how it pans out in games.
Flashbang : Overall good, although i think they should blind you if they go behind like in 1.6, the excellent point about the CS:S flashes, is the noise it makes when you get blinded.
It makes them MUCH more usefull, people cant hear how many are rushing them when their blind, nor can they tell what way they are facing and hear you coming so they can spray the s*** out of you. These flashes are what the 1.6 flashes should have been.
Smoke : They do the job, you cant see through them and this time they dont hamper FPS.
The fact that you can now pick up grenades off of dead players is a great addition.
Maps
================
All pretty sound except aztec, looks pretty, need to be able to turn rain off though.
Thats enough for me now :P
Its a "good" game, nothing spectacular at the moment, but looking at it id agree that its no where near finished and they have simpley pushed it out to get people to buy HL2 through steam. Id still say its in beta stages and expect some changes to be made if this game is going to be adopted for professional tournament play.
