I formatted my computer about 4 days ago and since then it has been the item of a constant flood of spyware and viruses, which are slowing down my computer, turning my CS into a slideshow and generally annoying me.
I've formatted before but this has never happened as bad as this. I've tried a demo version of Norton and it doesnt seem to help, files which are infected fail to be deleted.
I've got the AdAware program... i do a scan and it always finds +100 items of spyware. I delete them, then 5 minutes later they have all returned.
I've used the sasserfix and the blaster worm fix many times, but these viruses also keep returning.
Just wondered if anyone else has had any similar problems recently as this has never happened this bad to my computer before. So what are my options? Full version of Norton? Service Pack 2? Firewall?
Advice Please.

Adware 6+
Also use Norton IS that should take out half of the spyware if your getting dodgey emails. should just stop most of it all together.
You can get the torrent off of suprnova its about 180 mb [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

i think half of those programs are unneccessary but in your case as its still occuring after a format i would follow the above advice.
Dont click on random links in irc.
Dont use any type of filesharing peer to peer thing (altho bittorrent seems ok)
download a small popup blocker that will stop you accidently clicking on them if they do pop up. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

An idea for you, what i have done is split ma hardrive into 3 paritions having 1 for games 1 for proggies and 1 for windows, i format every few months and just install all my vital programs (steam. codecs, irc etc.) off my other partition. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

this tactic will ensure your pc stays a child-safe environment to aid in your homework, and that pervert housemate gets f***ed over, motherf***er. If he confronts you then tell him you are going to do a s*** in a leaky plastic bag and then hide it under his duvet. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]
