After finishing this ridiculously hot, but free, peperami firestick I thought I'd set about reviewing the latest mousepad to land on my doorstep. After checking out the plastic offering from steelpad it's time to take a look at the Qpad Gamer LowSense, the largest pad Qpad offer. Here's a bit of information about the Qpad Gamer pad:

QPAD® Gamer™ is the mouse pad that stands out from the crowd and wins test after test the world over. For all users with high demands on precision, feel and functionality this is the mouse pad that delivers. QPAD® Gamer™ is the result of 10 years of development. (QPAD has been manufacturing mousepads since 1994) The unique coating not only ensures that the mouse registers every detail of the smallest movement; it also gives you a better, smoother and nicer glide with very low friction. QPAD® Gamer™ works with all mice. The larger pads increase the precision of your work further since the size of your target equals the size of your mouse pad if you turn down the mouse sensitivity. An excellent choice if you are a hardcore gamer or work with other demanding tasks such as graphic design or big spreadsheets.
Wowwwwwww they sound dedicated. Qpad have been around for a while now, advertising their products at high profile events such as Landed LAN and the WCG Qualifiers in Holland and France. You may have noticed UKESA (ran by TeppuM) supplying them, but apart from that their pretty difficult to get hold of directly from the UK, so buyers usually have to order from Sweden or somewhere similar. I think Qpad sponsor the Landed CS team so just ask them for a second opinion if you don't agree with what I'm about to write.
When I first recieved the pad I was impressed at how it was packaged. Most companies I've recieved pads from usually post them in a simple padded envelope, but the Qpad came in a small tube inside a protective box, and looked pretty "neat" so to speak.

First of all I'll discuss the size of the Qpad, here's the measurements:

Just as I did with the steelpad s&s, here's how it compares to two other popular pads, the func1030 and the DKT pad:
DKT
fUnc1030
Here's a picture of how it compares to these pads:

I didn't feel the pad was too big or too small. The DKT hangs over the edge of my desk and I feel that it's too big for what a normal cs player needs. The Qpad fits perfectly on my desk and just looks better than the DKT full stop.
The Qpad is a clothpad, so most people (including me) will compare it to a DKT. I've been using the Qpad for about a day now and I find it so much nicer to use than a DKT. There's less friction on the Qpad compared to the DKT and the mouse moves extremely smoothly across it, without feeling too slippy. The QPAD surface has been printed with a special kind of ink which manages to reduce friction between pad and mouse, and also looks pretty neat to boot. The pad sent to me featured the default design, but there's plenty of other designs available if you shop around.
The base of the pad is similar to the DKT. The rubbery effect makes it grip the desk and stay still even when your mouse is going crazy.
After playing a few games of CS on the Qpad I decided to try out the Qpad Glidz that were sent to me with the pad. They are fairly similar to most other mouseskates, apart from the fact that they seem a lot thicker, which would hopefully mean they'll last a hell of a lot longer than the standard ones everyone seems to buy from Everglide, and they square up nicely to the performance offered by Hyperglides as well.

DKT users should consider switching to the Qpad Gamer LowSense, while users of plastic pads may want to give the smaller version of the Qpad a whirl and see if they can adjust. It didn't take me long to get used to it and chances are it may end up replacing the trusty func smooth side on my desk.

its not strictly a clothpad, although thats what it looks like.. its plastic/cloth combo, which means it will crack if you fold it, so you gotta be careful...
but other than this, its great :D [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]
